Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque  is a compact SUV from Land Rover which went into production in July 2011. Land Rover along with British origin Jaguar in India is a subsidiary of Tata Motors as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). Land Rover floats two Range Rovers, a Freelander and a Discovery model in Indian market. Land Rover builds the Evoque in three- and five-door forms, as well as the Freelander 2, at the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Halewood plant in the U.K.

The all new Range Rover Evoque concept was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show as the Land Rover LRX in January 2008. Evoque will be available in three-door and five-door body styles. This is basically a mini-sport utility vehicle compared to the tall and rugged SUVs by Land Rover. This is perhaps the smallest and lightest ever Range Rover and will meet head on with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3 (not yet in India). Primarily meant to appeal to the younger, more urbane audience, Land Rover Evoque is a truly dynamic and sporty SUV. The 5 door version will be available in Pure, Prestige and Dynamic models that give myriad choices and technology.

Evoque is surely a head turner and a performer despite its small size. In the entire history of Range Rover brand since 1970, there have hardly been any models launched by Land Rover that managed to create the kind of fervor that Evoque has procured from car lovers and auto enthusiast on a global platform.

The glittering lamps as well as the rear spoiler on Evoque and the rally-like wheel arches-all make it attractive and increases the desirability for this car. Not just the exteriors but the interiors as well are captivating in this case. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque  draws many similarities with its seniors and bid daddies. The switches and dial looks amazingly mesmerizing. The seats inside have chic upholstery and are supportive. The steering can be adjusted for a perfect driving position. It also inherits one touch interior lighting and split screen centre console display from its seniors. A significant option for Land Rover’s new Range Rover Evoque compact SUV is a large, fixed panoramic glass sunroof which adds upto cost of production.  The Evoque can comfortably house two six feet height persons at the rear in the five-door car that has extra 1.2 inches headroom compared to the Evoque coupe version. The third row is quite cramped and isn’t fit for seating.

This engine is coupled with a newly developed 9-speed automatic transmission gearbox that distributes the torque to all four wheels in the form of 4WD layout. The exterior appearance of this version is quite inviting and it comes with attractive such as redesigned headlight cluster that comes with LED daytime running lights. The body colored bumper is fitted with an air dam that provides better air for the engine. The side profile of this vehicle is fitted with body colored door handles and external rear view mirrors. These OVRMs are electrically adjustable and integrated with turn indicator as well. At the same time, the rear end comes with a large tinted windscreen that comes integrated with an electric defogger and accompanied with a wiper and washer.
With blend of dynamic handling and refined engineering, theRange Rover Evoque ’s compact footprint and advanced technology deliver exciting performance together with the lowest fuel consumption of any Range Rover to date.  Fuel economy has been stated as being 6.5 kmpl. The petrol engine, however, would be more frugal. The 2.0 L engine is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission and has been engineered to improve fuel economy of 8.7 kmpl.
The 5 door Land Rover Range Rover Evoque power is doled out by a 2179 cc diesel engine that has a maximum power of 190 bhp @ 3500 rpm and a maximum torque of 420 Nm @ 1750 rpm. This engine is mated to a fantastic 6 six speed automatic transmission.

In contrast, the 1999 cc turbocharged petrol engine is more powerful as it churns out 240 bhp @ 5500 rpm and generates maximum torque of 340 Nm @ 1750 rpm. Even this mighty and muscular engine is mated to 6 speed automatic gearbox.

The Evoque is a high segment car and fuelled by a powerful engine to meet the off-road capabilities. The 2.2 L SD4 diesel engine attains an acceleration of 8.5 kmph and top speed of 200 kmph. On the other hand the Si4 2.0 L petrol engine takes 7.6 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 kmph. Its maximum speed is a phenomenal 217 kmph. Overall both the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Acceleration & pick-up are great.
Range Rover Evoque is a highly pricey SUV with lush looks. The Evoque is available is 5 door and coupe body style. Three design themes are available in the 5-door version (Pure, Prestige and Dynamic) while the coupe structure is available with only one design theme. Evoque can be termed as the Range Rover’s answer to former owner BMW by creating a BMW X1 challenger and even Audi’s upcoming Q3 SUV is in hit-list. Range Rover Evoque is the smallest SUV in their range. Owner Tata Motors have ensured that Land Rover get a fair deal while coming to India and so have localized some of the components inside the cars to make them better priced than their rivals. The dynamic profile, dramatic rising beltline and muscular shoulders give Range Rover Evoque a natural presence and magnetism.

Talking about the exteriors, Evoque announces right from a distance that a small but jaw-dropping SUV is coming and indicates the passerby to stare it while this SUV sheds its beauty both on-road and off-road. The front end of Evoque looks startling. The twin horizontally inclined grille piece with the Range Rover name written above makes one fall in love with this Range Rover. The extremely sporty and sparkling paint finish, rally-like wheel arches and rear spoiler on Evoque just grabs the eye-balls. With the glittering LED and Xenon lighting head lamps and crystalline fog lamps, Evoque exudes nothing but crispness and desirability. Large tinted windscreen has rain sensing wipers. Unlike the usual white faced aluminium skid plate, a matt brushed one is used with black effect.

The use of aluminum for the bonnet and the roof, and composite plastics for the one-piece tailgate has helped to produce a vehicle weighing 220 lb (100 kg) less than the Freelander. The side profile has powerfolding exterior mirrors with memory. A fixed panoramic sunroof is adorned in all the models of Evoque with sun-blinds. Even a contrast roof is available. The coupe has rather a sloping roofline. Front and rear parking aid adds to the utility quotient about Evoque. The side profile is different in 5 door and coupe style. The alloy wheels underline two door configuration in 5 door model and single door configuration in the coupe style Evoque, respectively. Two exhaust pipes at the rear are cloaked quite under the chassis. Range Rover Evoque is a quantum leap in the evolution of Range Rover with its LED reflectors on the bumpers.
Land Rover cars are not the mass cars. Rather they cater to special audience who are class-apart and therefore it takes utmost care of their class, their status, their requirements, their needs, their expectations and sometimes even surpasses their expectations. The delight with Evoque continues in the cabin also, with glistening switches and dials from pricier Range Rover models and upholstered seats both in front and in passenger's cabin with an adjustable and comfortable driver's seat ensure that everyone has a comfortable drive. The adjustable steering column gives a perfect driving position and experience. High-tech features in centre console include one-touch Ambient interior lighting which changed with the Terrain Response settings and the split-screen centre console display, which allows passengers to watch television or DVDs while the driver can see only the SatNav. Complete vehicle data will be presented by a ‘floating’ three-dimensional LCD display. The aluminium centre console with an iPhone docking station stretches the length of the cabin, separating the four seats.

The tailgate features two padded seating areas and integrated cupholders. Seats with open frameworks are used to give interior a lighter look while also creating useful under-seat and under-floor stowage areas. The powered rear seats offer plenty leg room. But there might be debates about the lack of the headroom. The presence of a massive panoramic sunroof takes Evoque to next level. Obviously parking sensors and also a reverse camera is standard fare given the small windscreen aperture. Large luggage items such as skis and surfboards can also be easily lodged in the bounteous load space.
The compact engine alcove inside the Evoque’s bonnet doesn’t allow accommodating a V6 motor and hence theLand Rover Range Rover Evoque engine is packed by 4 in-line cylinder engines transversely placed that has 4 valves per cylinder. The latest 2.2 litre turbo diesel delivers superb torque, responsive performance and impressive refinement. The four wheel drive of Evoque is powered by the SD4 engine with 2179cc displacement that provides a maximum of 190 bhp of power at 3500 rpm and generates a torque of 420 Nm at 1750 rpm.

The Si4 petrol Land Rover Range Rover Evoque engine capacity is 2.0 litres in a lightweight all-aluminum unit with the latest direct injection technology, advanced turbo charging and twin independent variable valve timing. This 1999 cc engine produces 240 bhp power at 5500 rpm and 340 Nm of maximum torque at 1750 rpm. Both the SD4 diesel Si4 petrol engines are fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission engineered to improve fuel economy and that features Drive Select, an advanced rotary gearshift with steering wheel mounted paddle controls.
